Watch and defense tower,
the Dolder

In the past, it was used, from the top of its 25 meters, to intimidate all the enemies who wished to besiege the city. Built at the end of the 13th century, it was the only point of entry to the city which allowed, at night, the guard who lived there, to close the city gates and watch for any possible intrusion. During the day, the tower cheered up the passers-by with the soft sound of its bell.
Nowadays, it is possible to visit it and to discover the museum that it shelters: the Museum of art and popular traditions. You can discover a collection of weapons dating from the last centuries. Don’t forget to see the objects related to the wine industry, which is the pride of its inhabitants.
